If you follow professional or collegiate sports, you have heard talk of concussion protocols. You no longer "get your bell rung" and hop back on the field. In the past 50 years, PT has come a long way and medical science has made us aware of just how critical these common concussions are. We now use an onslaught of modern tools, screens, and education to protect players and prevent permanent injury.
With insights and information constantly evolving, it's hard to nail down the correct protocol and aftercare for the all-too-common sports injury. We're always asking the big questions:
Do I keep my kid from going to sleep after a concussion?
How long do they stay out of the game?
When do I go to the hospital?
What about "brain rest"?
Is confusion normal?
Do I really need to hold up two fingers in front of their face?
As a parent and medical provider, I need to be well informed on how to deal with the possibility of injury on and off the field!
Concierge Orthopedics is thrilled to partner with Nat Grubbs of South Arkansas Rehab for our second company webinar. Mr. Grubbs will discuss early intervention following concussion. He will review current evidence with a focus on clinical implications for physical therapists.
