From Insurance Hassles to Cash-Pay: Simplifying Physical Therapy

We are thrilled to introduce August's feature physical therapist, Dr. Gabby Newton. Dr. Newton is a recent graduate from Marquette University. We are thrilled to welcome her to our team and get to know her. We know you will feel the same!

What is your favorite thing about being a PT?

Getting to know my patients! I’m a big believer in developing patient rapport. Establishing a certain comfort level helps to make interactions more of an education exchange - as much as I’m teaching them, I’m learning from them.

Why did you want to go into cash-pay physical therapy?

As a new-ish grad, insurance is a bit of a sore spot. Between the lingo and all the different rules, it can feel like it’s working against you more than with you/your patient. To me, cash-pay seems like a simpler, more transparent alternative. Cash-pay situations ensure patients get the personalized 1:1 care they deserve and facilitates more appropriate compensation for us PTs.

How did you find CO?

I learned about CO through an outreach email. Shania and I attended the same university, though a few years apart, and seeing the common alumni status made me comfortable to take the leap of faith and more easily trust the process.

What can you tell us about your hiring and onboarding experience?

I can’t say enough good things! Truly, Shania and Kelli are everything you could want in an onboarding and mentorship team. Despite being busy managing their own practices, there is no room to doubt they are invested in you and helping you create the practice you want for yourself.
